Brazos post protectors are designed to wrap around the bottom of a pallet rack post and footplate and protect it. Pallet jacks and forklift trucks regularly move pallets in and out of bays of pallet rack. A bay of rack is defined by a vertical support post on each side and horizontal pairs of beams creating levels for storage. Most pallet rack calls for a spacing of only 4” between the pallet rack post and the edge of the pallet as it enters or leaves the storage position. Damage is inevitable. Some electric stackers used to load rack is not cantilevered meaning that there are outrigger legs. Even more potential for damage.

The cost of post protectors is small compared to replacing a rack upright. Depending where the damage is a minimum of two bays of rack must be unloaded to replace the upright. There is also the potential of collapse of a bay or more of rack if the damage is sufficient, not to mention the risk to the operators.

We at Brazos Manufacturing offer several sizes and weights of post protectors. We manufacture three material thicknesses and four heights as standard. Material thicknesses are ¼”, ⅜” and ½”. In applications where only manual equipment like pallet jacks are used ¼” might prove to be enough. For normal speed operations with power equipment ⅜” would be a good choice. For high speed or abusive choosing ½” material would give more protection. Of the available standard heights of 12”, 18”, 24” and 36” using the height above where most impacts happen would give maximum protective coverage. Standard widths accommodate posts up to 4” wide. Mounting holes are 9/16″ for 1/2″ anchors.
